WE ARE AN OLYMPIC STYLE KARATE SCHOOL

The Great Neck Martial Arts Center is a State of Virginia Corporation, doing business as (or transacting as “t/a”) Juko Kai - Virginia. Our organization has been in existence for 4 years as an at-risk youth program for 6-17 year olds at the city Recreation Center. Great Neck Martial Arts Center celebrated their 1 year Anniversary of opening on May 22, 2003.

Beikoku Ryu is licensed as an official recognized association by Juko Kai, International, Inc.- the only non-Asian Japanese recognized martial arts association.  We emphasize traditional martial arts training in several styles of karate, aiki-jutsu, kobudo (weapons training) and ninpo, all aimed at deepening traditional values coupled with the Olympics ideal.

Beikoku Ryu operates a non-profit martial arts program which issues rank sanctioned by Juko Kai International, Inc.  We do not issue school or local “dojo certificates”.  All promotions are countersigned by the Chief Instructor (8th Degree Black Belt), the Senior Instructor, and two 10th Degree black belts.  We will also offer promotion certificates from the USA National Karate-do Federation, Inc., the National Olympic Governing Body.

We are a member program of the United States of America National Karate-do Federation (USA-NKF), the official national governing body (NGB) representing karate in the U.S. with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), themselves members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  We teach traditional sports and martial arts values centering on discipline and self development.  As such, our focus is on developing the finest athletes, students and citizens upholding the time honored and traditional, historical values of Olympic competition.

All participating students can expect to make Black Belt in approximately 3 years by normal attendance at Great Neck Martial Arts Center. Each student will promote once they have learned and memorize 75% of their requirements which is about every two to three months. The program is geared to normal attendance at least 3 days a week, with regular testing and grading at 10 to 12 week intervals. With regular attendance and a good martial art spirit you can be accepted into our National Black Belt Club which allows you to receive special individualized training with Sensei Ronald Smith directly. Students are also permitted to obtain additional training at Great Neck Martial Arts Center or at either one of the affiliated schools with permission from Sensei.  There is no preset limit to how far a student may go.  Since we are a nationally sponsored program, during school hours, students are expected to adhere to regular grading requirements for all schools programs.  Participation in after school activities (tournaments and seminars) is not only expected but mandatory (see rules and regulations). Every Student must attend 5 mandatory events per year.

We are a member program of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA). The Purpose of NAPMA is to dramatically increase the number of people enjoying the benefits of good martial arts training. The goal of this education is to help instructors provide safer, more professional, age appropriate programs for their students. Our dedication to creating a martial arts industry unified by a commitment to safety and professionalism is revealed in our multi-pronged efforts to reach and help as many schools as possible.

Our Black Belts are required to maintain annual membership with Juko Kai International. For each Dan ranking to rate in another martial art and maintain their original art that they received their first black belt in. It encourages all of our Black Belts to be professional instructors and to continue to learn and grow in the large martial arts community. Our goal is to provide excellent training and reunify all martial arts as one art as it first began.

Juko-Kai is a family-oriented martial arts organization that has schools and representatives in numerous foreign countries. We have long been recognized as one of the foremost martial arts federations in the West, serving as the Western Headquarters for the International Okinawan Martial Arts Renmei (IOMAU), the Juko-Kai/Seidokan Japan Martial Arts Renmei, and housing an authorized Ninpo division under the direct sanction of Masaaki Hatsumi, 34th Headmaster, Togakure-ryu Ninjutsu, Japan.

In addition to the traditional arts of Okinawa and Japan that we represent, Juko-kai also teaches the personal arts of Soke Sacharnoski - collectively referred to as Juko-ryu and Dai Yoshin-ryu.  Each art has it's own section on this website.  Additionally, Juko-kai provides access to his world famous Internal Energy system, which includes Combat Ki, where practioners are struck full force in the vital areas of the body.
