Welcome to Rosie's Web Page!

A little History:

Diamond Bull Tiger Rose (Rosie) is my first bulldog. She has been a joy and the light of our lives since day one. She is the best snuggle buddy a person could have; she's ready to curl up next to your feet or more likely in your lap. She is just as willing to go for a walk, ride in the car or play ball in the back yard.

Bullies have some special needs do to their physical make up that some other breeds share, Boston Terriers for example. Rosie, has a saccule that will have to be removed on Tuesday as well as removing part of the nades in her nasal passage to help her breath better. This will be her second surgery but, she did so well with the first, we believe this one will go smoothly as well. It is all in an effort to slow the effects of a collapsing larnyx. The collapse is caused by the fact that it takes so much effort for her to breath, hence the surgies to help ease her ability to breath. I'll keep you posted on her progress Tuesday. But if you could say a little prayer for her.

Below are some pictures of Rosie enjoying the backyard. Some things to consider before committing to a Bulldog, some problems that effect some bulldogs, not all, are skin conditions of various kinds. Rosie, suffers from a condition that occassionally pops up. It is esstenially a bacteria in the hair folicals, we use a medicated shampoo on her regularly and it keeps it under control nicely. Bulldogs are effected by heat, due to their short noses. You need to be careful if you live in areas that are hot in the summertime like the southeast or west. I know that the heat seems to make it more difficult for Rosie to breath. These leads to snoring louder than normal at night. I would have to say that in the southeast it is essential to have air conditioning available for your Bulldog. Another common problem for Bulldogs and other breeds with the same type of eyes such as, Boston Terriers is "cherry eye" I have heard conflicting reports as to what exactly causes this condition, but I do know that it is painful. In Rosie's case it had to be corrected with surgery. Our vets are wonderful and did a beautiful job for her. They used the pocet method. They created a pocket with effected lower eye lid and tucked the protruding tissue into the pocket and sewed it shut. She has never had another problem. Not all Bulldogs have a fondness for water, some sink like rocks to the bottom, others can swim nicely I wouldn't let Rosie in water deeper than her bath water without a K9 life vest. None of my dogs go into water so deep that they feet cannot touch the bottom. That is usually just as much their choice as mine. Below there are information links for Bulldogs.
